The Martingale System in Roulette Revisited
The Martingale Betting System is one of the more established betting systems in the game of roulette. Its popularity stems from the fact that it utilizes the current odds associated with winning and losing. Here, the player need not win huge, only that they win once.
The principal requirement in Martingale is for the player to have sufficient bankroll to cover several huge bets. Since this is a progressive system, the bets can go up so quickly. Insufficient bankroll can be disastrous and will probably lead to the loss of the initial bankroll.
Any bet will do for the first wager, but the initial value should be minimal. When the player loses on the initial bet, he needs to make a wager twice the amount of the original bet. Each time the player loses on his wager, he needs to bet twice the amount of the initial bet. With the Martingale System, losing streaks means increasing the amount of succeeding bets, which may become lucrative. The benefit of this kind of system is that a victory could mean huge payouts so there is a chance that previous bets could be recovered. Regardless of the amount of the previous bets, a single victory could be equivalent or even better than the original wager.
The reason for the popularity of the Martingale System is that it includes the probability of losses, which is always an expected scenario by every gambler. Likewise, it gives the gambler the opportunity to monitor losses and to find a way to recover from them, which should be a part of any strategy. While the Martingale System has advantages, it also has some major flaws.
With this system, it is likely that a gambler would have consumed all his bankroll with just a few defeats. Consequently, there is no chance for the gambler to recover all his losses.
Aside from the bankroll, the Martingale System may also cause table problems. For one, there are games that require maximum bets, which can be below the required amount of this system. On the other hand, lower minimum tables may give the gambler a chance to reach the maximum quota in a few rounds of betting.
Next, with the knowledge that bets will increase at a rapid pace, gamblers see to it that their first wager will be low. As a result, the amount to be won will most likely be small as well. Because of this, gamblers playing roulette do not find the Martingale System worthwhile.
The Martingale Progression System is a very popular strategy, but still there are some disadvantages of using this kind of betting system.
